Description
A voluminous mini skirt where tier after tier of ruffles ripples and stacks from the elastic waist down to the hem. The fabric carries a satin-like sheen, and a bold print covers the whole of it — shocking pink and red tartan collaged onto black, hatched lines and check tangling together so the pattern only grows busier up close. Each tier turns a different way as it overlaps, giving real dimension even laid flat, and the hem closes with a petticoat-like double frill of black satin. Charming, with a theatrical excess running underneath.
This is the COMME des GARÇONS instinct for playing with volume and silhouette itself, made literal. Favoring strangeness over neatness and turning sheer quantity into ornament is very much this label's point of view. Sweet color and excessive frills pushed all the way without being toned down — a skirt that grows on you the longer you look.
